Maple Grove girls capture win section soccer title
The Maple Grove girls soccer team had a very good regular season, but the one goal that had proven elusive to past Crimson teams was tops on their list: reaching the state tournament. Tuesday night, the Crimson dominated against Centennial, the team that beat them in last year’s 5AA title game. Shelby Handberg and Mannon McMahon scored goals in the first half and Meredith Haakenson added an insurance goal in the second half to secure the 3-0 win. The Crimson (17-2-0) qualified for the state tournament for the first time in program history.
