Maple Grove Girls Basketball Wins Section 5AAAA Title
The Maple Grove girls’ basketball team scored 50 second-half points and pulled away from Mounds View to win the Section 5AAAA championship game 80-48 Thursday night.
The Crimson played strong defense and closed the first half on a 21-3 scoring run to take at 30-15 lead at halftime. The team hit seven three-pointers in the second half.
Jordan Ode scored 22 points to lead Maple Grove in scoring. Claire Stern added 20 points and Ava Cossette 16.
Bria Stenstrom scored 27 to lead Mounds View in scoring.

Maple Grove (24-4) advances to the state tournament for the first time in five years with the win.
Teams are seeded for the state tournament on Saturday with the quarterfinals Wednesday at Williams Arena.
*UPDATE* Maple Grove is the number four seed for the class AAAA tournament and faces Lakeville North Wednesday at noon.
