Maple Grove Girls Basketball Suffers First Loss
In a battle of unbeaten teams the Maple Grove girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday, losing 61-44 to Elk River.
The Elks (10-0) scored the first seven points of the game but led the Crimson (9-1) by just two points at halftime, 29-27. Elk River however outscored Maple Grove 32-17 in the second half.
Kylie Baranick led the Crimson in scoring with 16 points while Kyla Overskei netted 11.
For Elk River Johanna Langbehn led all scorers with 19 points and Elly Bahr added 17.
Elk River hosts Centennial in a match-up of 10-0 teams on Friday night. Maple Grove is home Friday to play Blaine.
