Maple Grove Girls Basketball Edges Wayzata on Late Basket
Jordan Ode’s basket with seven seconds left in the second half lifted the Maple Grove girls basketball team to a 56-55 win over Wayzata Tuesday.
Trailing by one with under 20 seconds to play and Wayzata with the basketball, Bella Hanna stole the ball for the Crimson and fed Ode with a pass and the senior scored on a fast-break lay-up.
The Trojans were unable to score on their final possession, after leading most of the night.
Ode topped all scorers with 30 points with Lexi Hanna adding nine points, all on three-pointers.
Sophie Hawkinson led a balanced Wayzata scoring attack with 11 points while Allie Berns and Katie Kelzenberg scored 10 each.
Both teams are now 2-1 this season and play again December 12th at Wayzata.
