Maple Grove Football Upset at St. Michael-Albertville
The 2nd-ranked Maple Grove football team lost for just the second time this season, falling 14-13 in the rain at St. Michael-Albertville Thursday.
The Crimson scored on their opening drive, going 80 yards in just over two minutes capped by Check Langama’s 21st rushing touchdown of the season.
STMA countered early in the second quarter with an 89-yard, 8 ½ minute touchdown drive to tie the game 6-6.
A Kayden Harney to Nathan Hromadka touchdown pass put the Crimson back in front in the third quarter before the Knights rallied on the first play of the fourth quarter on a three-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion to take a 14-13 lead.
Maple Grove drove inside the STMA 20-yard line in the final minute of the game before their drive stalled.
The Crimson (5-2) host Minnetonka in their regular season finale next Thursday at 1:00 pm.
St. Michael-Albertville (4-3) won for the fourth time in their last five games.
