Maple Grove Football Starts Season with 37-17 Win over Stillwater
The reigning Class 6A football state champions Maple Grove began their 2025 season with a 37-17 win on the road at Stillwater.
The Crimson found themselves in a 7-0 hole early in the game, but rattled off 24 unanswered points to start the season 1-0.
Senior running back James Engle led the way for Maple Grove offensively, carrying the ball 24 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Jeffrey Nordvold scored a 25-yard touchdown run midway through the 4th quarter to put the Crimson up by two scores.
Kaden Harney was an efficient 8-for-10 on the night, throwing for 70 yards and one touchdown pass to Henry Knutson.
Maple Grove will face Eden Prairie in their home opener next week.
