Maple Grove Football Scores 30 Unanswered, Stays Perfect with Win over Minnetonka
The Maple Grove football team closed out the regular season with a 30-14 win over Minnetonka, completing a perfect regular season record at 8-0.
The Skippers senior quarterback Caleb Francois scored two rushing touchdowns early to put Minnetonka up 14-0.
The Crimson answered early in the second quarter with a long drive that ended in a Kaden Harney 17-yard touchdown pass to Josh Thompson.
After a Preston Berg field goal right before halftime, the Crimson opened the second half with a touchdown drive capped by a seven-yard touchdown run by Harney.
James Engle scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half and ran the ball 28 times for 156 yards (196 total yards).
Maple Grove’s defense didn’t allow a point after the first two Minnetonka touchdowns. Senior linebacker Ryder Skanson led the way with 12 tackles.
The Crimson earned a one seed in the Class 6A tournament and will host Eastview in the opening round of the postseason on Friday, October 24th.
