Maple Grove Rallies to Beat Wayzata Football
The Maple Grove football team rallied from a 14-0 first-half deficit to beat Wayzata 28-21 to remain unbeaten on the season.
The Trojans scored on their opening drive with a fourth-down conversion 42-yard touchdown pass from Cole Heilbrun to Charlie Tomczik.
Omar Madkour scored on a three-yard touchdown late in the quarter to put the Trojans ahead 14-0.
Henry Stang’s interception and return set up Maple Grove’s only touchdown on the first half as Jacob Kilzer’s eight-yard pass to Jordan Olagbaju brought the Crimson within 14-7 at halftime.
Wayzata bobbled a punt try early in the third quarter, giving Maple Grove the ball at the Trojans’ 10-yard line.
Tanner Albeck helped the Crimson cash in a few plays later with a five-yard touchdown run.
Olagbagu added a rushing touchdown later in the third quarter to give Maple Grove its first lead, 21-14.
Jacob Anderson scored on a 33-yard catch and run in the fourth quarter for Maple Grove before Wayzata capped the scoring on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Heilbrun to Eli Lenort.
Olabaju finished the night with 108 yards of total offense and two touchdowns.

Maple Grove (6-0) plays at St. Michael-Albertville Friday while the Trojans (2-4) are at home to face Blaine.
