Maple Grove Football Rallies Past Centennial
The Maple Grove football team rallied from an early 10-0 deficit to beat Centennial 24-17 to remain undefeated on the season.
The Cougars (2-2) scored on their opening drive on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Henry Pirner to Josh Lee. After the Crimson fumbled on the ensuing kickoff the Cougars added three more points on a 42-yard field goal by Eli Nowacki.
Maple Grove though came back and scored on a 52-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jacob Kilzer to cut the Centennial lead to 10-7.
Dylan Vokal then scored on a 68-yard punt return to put the Crimson ahead 14-10 after one quarter. Connor Fournier’s 25-yard field goal in the second quarter gave Maple Grove a 17-10 lead.
Jordan Olagbaju added a rushing touchdown in the third quarter for the Crimson’s final points of the night.
Kilzer led Maple Grove in rushing with 117 yards while Olagbaju added 79 yards.
Maple Grove (4-0) hosts Champlin Park (2-2) Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
