Maple Grove Football Moving Forward
The players on the Maple Grove football team are disappointed there won’t be a fall season, but they are moving forward.
This week’s announcement by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) that the season would be moved to the spring of 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns hit hard for football teams across the northwest suburbs and the state as a whole.
The Maple Grove guys are hoping to make the best of the extra time they’ll have for strength and speed work.
Recruiting for college-bound players will be affected, as college programs won’t get any current game video to look at this fall.
There are still many details to be ironed out about the spring season, which will be shorter than a normal season.
Crimson head coach Matt Lombardi is hoping there will be some sort of playoff experience involved after the regular season.
