Maple Grove Football Knocked Out of Playoffs
Defending state Class 6A football champion Maple Grove was knocked out of the playoffs in the section final, losing 35-24 to Edina.
The Hornets jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never trailed as they rolled up over 430 yards of total offense.
Dylan Vokal led Maple Grove in rushing yards with 98 yards while Caden Harney threw for one score and ran for two more for the Crimson (7-3).
It was the first home loss for Maple Grove since October 2020.
Edina (7-3) meets Stillwater in the state quarterfinals Thursday.
