Maple Grove Football Crushes Osseo in Season Opener
The Maple Grove football team crushed rival Osseo 49-7 in the season opener for both teams Thursday.
The Crimson set the tone early.
They forced a quick three-and-out for Osseo, then went to work offensively.
Derrick Jameson burst into the clear on a counter play and scored a 32-yard touchdown less than three minutes into the first quarter.
Jameson scored again on a 36-yard run less than five minutes later to make it 14-0 after a quarter.
The Crimson really erupted in the second quarter to blow it open.
Micha Vayee scored on a 50-yard run on his first carry of the game to make it 21-0.
Quarterback Jacob Kilzer scored on a 5-yard run before Jameson added two more scores in the quarter.
The second was on a 65-yard punt return.
Jameson rushed for 125 yards on just eight carries and had four touchdowns in all.
The Crimson defense held Osseo with a completion while intercepting two passes.
