Maple Grove Football Beats Minnetonka in Regular Season Finale
The Maple Grove football team bounced back from a loss in week seven to beat Minnetonka 27-13 in the regular season finale for both teams Thursday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, each team finished a drive with a short TD run in the second and the defensive battle was tied 6-6 at halftime.
Maple Grove started the third quarter with some trickery as Dylan Vokal took a pitch and threw a halfback pass to a wide-open Henry Stang for a 65-yard touchdown.
From a different formation the same combination worked again later in the quarter as Maple Grove built a 20-6 lead.
After the Skippers scored to pull within 20-13, Kaden Harney hit Bo Draheim for a 46-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.
Maple Grove finished the regular season 6-2. They host Park-Cottage Grove in the first round of the Class AAAAAA playoffs next Friday.
