Maple Grove Football Aims for Third Title in Four Years
Over the past several years, Maple Grove football has become one of the elite programs in the state.
The Crimson finished undefeated and Class 6A champions both last year and in 2022 with a state runner-up finish in 2021.
Maple Grove lost several starters from their state championship team of a year ago but do return some very good talent, including seven players who have committed to either Division 1 or Division 2 schools.
Kaden Harney (South Dakota State) is in his third season as the team’s starting quarterback. Offensive tackle Matt Perusse (Montana State) is the other returning starter. James Engel (Minnesota State-Mankato) and Jeff Nordvold (Minnesota Duluth) are both solid running backs.
Ryder Skanson (Air Force) and Bo Thyen return at linebacker along with Will Raymond while Brayden Dozier (North Dakota State) and Gavin Elmquist (Mankato) are anchors in the defensive backfield.
The Crimson host a six-team scrimmage on August 23rd and open the season at Stillwater August 28th.
