Maple Grove Edges Osseo in Legion Baseball Playoffs
Maple Grove edged Osseo 2-0 in the opening round of the Sub-State 11 American Legion baseball tournament.
Maple Grove’s Frank Volkers and Osseo’s Jake Contreras hooked up in a good pitcher’s duel.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Maple Grove scored twice.
That was enough for Volkers, who pitched a complete game for the shutout.
Osseo plays again Thursday; Maple Grove faces Anoka Friday at noon in winner’s bracket play.
