Maple Grove Cross Country Defeats Champlin Park
Maple Grove defeated Champlin Park in both the varsity girls and boys cross country races Thursday.
The Crimson girls beat the Rebels 21-40 with Lindsey Young of Maple Grove winning medalist honors, placing first in a time of 19:12. The Rebels’ Abby Hibbs finished second in 19:48.
Maple Grove runners Jordan Ode, Lily Chabica, Kelsye Young and Lexi Hanna finished third through sixth. Elise Oldroyd of Champlin Park finished seventh with the the Rebels’ Maggie Grossman eighth.
In the boys race the Crimson won 15-45 with the first six runners all from Maple Grove. Garrett Farrens finished first in 16:42 with teammate Nick Peters placing second in 17:04.
The Crimson had the top six runners in the race as Matt Hosmann, Cody Kryzer, Myles Brown and Drew Hjelmstad finished third through sixth.
Ethan Ibarra and Garrett Doty of Champlin Park finished seventh and eighth in the race.
