Maple Grove Boys Tennis Beats Champlin Park in Section 5AA Quarterfinals
The Maple Grove boys tennis team beat Champlin Park 7-0 in the Section 5AA quarterfinals Wednesday.
The Crimson won all three doubles matches in quick fashion.
The singles was more competitive. Carter Sheard of Maple Grove edged Gavin Kelleher of Champlin Park 6-0, 3-6, 7-5 in the first singles match.
Third singles also was competitive, with Zach Helmer-Jahnke of Maple Grove beating Jake Nord 7-5, 6-2.
Third seed Maple Grove is scheduled to face second seed Orono in the semifinals Thursday afternoon, weather permitting.
Top seed Wayzata hosts fourth seed Buffalo in the other semifinal.
