Maple Grove Boys Hockey Skates into Season
The Maple Grove boys hockey team skates into a new season with high hopes.
The Crimson won 21 games and finished as Section 5AA runner up last season.
They have a good group back from that team.
Leading scorer Justin Janicke did leave to join the U.S. development program in Michigan.
Standout junior forward Kyle Kukkonen is back, along with goalie Jack Wieneke and defenseman Spencer Dahlquist.
Maple Grove opens the season this weekend at the CCX Turkey Trot tournament hosted by Wayzata.
They face defending state champion Edina in the first round Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Plymouth Ice Center.
All four Turkey Trot tournament games can be seen live on CCX1 and www.ccxmedia.org
