Maple Grove Boys Hockey Skates Into 5AA Final
The Maple Grove boys’ hockey team scored six straight goals to beat Champlin Park 6-2 in the semifinals of the Section 5AA boys’ hockey tournament.
After Matthew Blodgett gave Champlin Park a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, the Crimson’s Jack Kernan scored with one second remaining to tie the game 1-1 after one period.
Maple Grove then scored twice in the second period and the first three goals of the third to put the game away.
Kernan finished with a hat trick and also added an assist. Riley Bot, Lucas Margenau and Grant Leneau also scored for the Crimson while Finn Brink added three assists.
Maple Grove (21-5-1) now faces off with Rogers (18-6-3) for the section title Thursday at 7:00 pm at Elk River’s Furniture and Things Community Event Center. You can watch that game live on CCX.
