Maple Grove Boys Hockey Knocks Off #1 Lakeville South
The Maple Grove boys hockey team scored a big win at the Tradition at the Park holiday tournament, beating top-ranked Lakeville South 3-0.
Danny Nelson scored a power play goal in the first period for the Crimson.
The lead stayed at 1-0 until the third period.
Josh Giuliani scored just under six minutes into the third to make it 2-0.
Sawyer Skanson added an empty net goal to seal the win.
Toby Hopp made 20 saves to earn the shutout for Maple Grove.
They face host Benilde-St. Margaret’s in the second round of the tournament Wednesday.
