Maple Grove Boys Hockey Holds Off Wayzata for 4-3 Win
The Maple Grove boys hockey team beat Wayzata for a second time this season, edging the Trojans 4-3.
The Crimson scored twice in the first 3:15 of the first period on goals by Cale Braid and Henry Miller.
Wayzata answered later in the first with a powerplay goal from McCoy Kurtz.
Maple Grove closed the first period scoring with a Jaden Roueche goal and stretched their lead to 4-1 after two periods on a Cole Anderson goal.
The Trojans got goals from Jake Nawrocki and Jackson Hendricks to pull to within 4-3 with 2:30 to play in the third period but couldn’t score again.
Maple Grove (10-3-1) also beat Wayzata (6-6-2) 4-2 to start the season in the Turkey Trot tournament in November.
