Maple Grove Boys Hockey Erases Two-Goal Deficit, but Falls to Holy Family, 4-2
The Maple Grove boys hockey team came back from a 2-0 deficit against Holy Family in their opening game of the Premiere Holiday Classic, but couldn’t hold on and fell to the Fire by a score of 4-2.
Holy Family got on the board early with a short-handed goal from Bryce Wiitala. That was followed by another Fire goal from Ryder Sorenson.
The Crimson scored late in the first period when Wyatt Kuznik earned a short-handed goal.
After no scoring in the second, Kuznik got his second goal of the game to tie it up early in the third period.
The Fire scored the final two goals of the game coming from Jack Barrett and Wiitala to hold onto the win.
Maple Grove (5-5-0) will face Chanhassen and Benilde-St. Margaret’s to finish out the tournament.
