Maple Grove Boys Hockey Edges Champlin Park
Owen Smith’s goal late in the second period proved to be the game winner as the Maple Grove boys hockey team edged Champlin Park 2-1 Thursday.
Smith’s goal, his third of the season, came off a David Kukkonen pass and broke a 1-1 tie.
Brady Aubut opened the scoring in the first period netting his sixth goal of the season for Maple Grove .
Champlin Park got its only goal of the game when Rhys George netted his third goal of the year 11 seconds into the period.
Winning goalie Zach Price made 31 saves as the Crimson improved to 11-4-0 on the season. Champlin Park is now 8-8-1.
