Maple Grove Boys Hockey Blanks Centennial for 5AA Championship
The Maple Grove boys hockey team routed Centennial 7-0 Thursday to win the Section 5AA title for a second straight season.
Henry Nelson scored 53 seconds into the game to get the Crimson on the board. Nelson later added a second goal. Chris Kernan also scored twice for the Crimson.
Maple Grove (20-1-0) is seeded fourth in the Class AA tournament and faces fifth-seeded Andover in the quarterfinals Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.
The Crimson defeated the Huskies twice during the regular season.
