Maple Grove Boys Basketball Shoots for Strong Season
The Maple Grove boys basketball team is shooting for a strong season.
The Crimson will have a lot of new faces in the lineup this season, but will build around three key returners.
Senior guard Jon Haakenson is a four-year varsity player, but he is out early this season as he recovers from an ankle injury.
6’10” junior center Lincoln Palbicki has improved his game, and junior point guard Raoul Vaidya played a big role late last season.
In the COVID-19 shortened 2021 season, Maple Grove won the Section 8AAAA title and then upset undefeated Champlin Park in the state quarterfinals.
Maple Grove is now in Section 5AAAA, with strong teams like Park Center, Osseo and Champlin Park.
The Crimson are missing four regulars early this season, including Haakenson.
They struggled in a 71-47 loss to Rosemount in the season opener and host a good Hopkins team Tuesday night.
