Maple Grove Boys Basketball Hoping to Build on Football Championship
The boys basketball team at Maple Grove may not get off to a fast start as several Crimson players were finishing up a state championship run in football.
As they transition to basketball and some recover from football injuries, it means there is a little rust to shake off on the basketball court.
Crimson coach Nick Schroeder says the tradeoff is worth it, with the championship mentality they bring from football carrying over.
Maple Grove has two starters back from a team that won 20 games and lost a close battle to Park Center in the Section 5AAAA final.
Guard Keegan Harney and post player Nathan Hromadka are the returning starters, and super sophomore Baboucarr Ann will play a key role after starring off the bench as a freshman.
Maple Grove faces a very tough early schedule, meeting Edina, Wayzata, and Park Center to open the season.
