Maple Grove Boys Basketball Beats Moorhead for Section Title
The Maple Grove boys basketball team is headed to the state tournament after beating Moorhead 65-56 in the Section 8AAAA championship game.
It’s the sixth consecutive section championship for the Crimson.
Maple Grove had the lead for most of the game, but Moorhead kept it close.
A buzzer beater by Belind Alemadi pulled the Spuds within 27-24 at halftime.
Maple Grove did a solid job of protecting their lead down the stretch.
Morgan Moore had 21 points and Terence Anthony-Larmouth 17 to lead the Crimson.
Brady Walthall had 25 points to lead Moorhead.
Maple Grove is the number four seed of the four northern section teams for the state tournament.
They’ll face the number one seed from the north, Champlin Park, Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Osseo High School.
