Maple Grove Beats Wayzata in Gopher Classic Legion
Maple Grove beat Wayzata 9-5 in pool play as part of the Gopher Classic American Legion baseball tournament.
MG scored three runs in the fifth inning and four in the sixth to rally from an early 4-2 deficit. Chayton Fisher hit two homeruns for Maple Grove.
For the weekend, Maple Grove finished 2-3 in pool play and Wayzata 3-2. Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin Post 77 won the six-team pool at Maple Grove with a 4-1 record to advance to the tournament’s Round of 16 on Monday.
The 96-team Gopher Classic wraps up Tuesday afternoon with the championship game at Veterans Field in Minnetonka.
