Maple Grove Beats Centennial For 5AA Girls Hockey Title
The Maple Grove girls hockey team scored two third period goals and skated to a 4-2 win over Centennial in the Section 5AA final.
The Crimson took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Pim Wilhelmy and Ella Olson but the Cougars tied it with two goals in the second.
Olson gave Maple Grove the lead for good on her goal with just over four minutes remaining in the third period. Stella Retrum added a powerplay goal 90 seconds later to seal the win.

Maple Grove (20-6-2) won its fourth section title in seven seasons. The Crimson is seeded fourth for the state tournament and play fifth-seeded Gentry Academy in the AA quarterfinals Thursday at approximately 8:00 pm at the Xcel Energy Center.
