Maple Grove Baseball Wins Pitcher’s Duel Over Osseo
The Maple Grove baseball team beat rival Osseo 1-0 in eight innings in a pitcher’s duel Friday.
Maple Grove’s Cole Newell threw eight shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out 13.
Osseo lefty Wyatt Doubler also went the distance, giving up just three hits and fanning seven.
After Osseo had loaded the bases but failed to score in the top of the eighth, Maple Grove won it in the bottom of the frame.
Cam Elder lined a single just out of the shortstop’s reach to bring Tanner Albeck in with the winning run.
