Maple Grove Baseball Loses 3-2 to Edina
The Maple Grove baseball team lost 3-2 to Edina Tuesday, finishing the regular season with a 15-4 record.
The Hornets’ Caden Morgan broke a scoreless tie by hitting a three-run homer in the fifth inning.
Maple Grove scored twice in the sixth inning on run-scoring hits by Chayton Fischer and Hunter Gerber.
Maple Grove starter Ethan Zimmerman struck out 11 batters in five innings. Aiden Hansen worked two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three.
Four Edina pitchers combined to hold Maple Grove to just four hits.
The Crimson will almost certainly be the top seed for the Section 5AAAA tournament that begins Monday afternoon.
Edina finishes the regular season with an 11-7 record.
