Local Runners Shine at Section 6AAA Cross Country
The Wayzata girls and boys teams won section titles and Armstrong senior Caitlyn Osanai won the girls race at the Section 6AAA cross country meet at Gale Woods Wednesday.
Osanai, with a winning time of 18:04.1, beat out Wayzata’s Jazleen Malherek-Osorio (18:10.6) and Sydney Drevlow of Hopkins (18:18.6) to take the girls section title.
Wayzata had five of the top nine girls runners.
Sam Scott of Minneapolis Southwest (15:13.9) won the boys race, with Will Weber of Wayzata (15: 33.2) second.
Landon Hering of Hopkins qualified for state as an individual, placing fourth.
Wayzata had five of the top 15 on the boys side to win the team title. Edina was second in both the girls and boys meet to also qualify for state.
The state meet has a new site this year, at Les Bolstad Golf Course at the University of Minnesota. The state meet is November 4th.
