Local NHL Draft Prospects Hope to Hear Name Called
Young hockey prospects are hoping to hear their name called at this week’s NHL draft. That includes at least a couple of players from the northwest suburbs.
Defenseman Tristan Sarsland, who played his high school hockey at Benilde-St. Margaret’s, is ranked #67 among North American skaters, which includes American and Canadian players. He is slated to play college hockey for Clarkson.
Former Wayzata High School center Gavin O’Connell is rated #178. he played for Waterloo in the United States Hockey League last season and recorded 24 points. He has committed to Minnesota-Duluth.
The NHL Draft is July 7 (1st round) and July 8 (2nd through 7th rounds) in Montreal.
