Local Gymnasts Place in State Class AA Finals
Maple Grove’s Sasha Thompson, Park Center’s Maya Woods, and NyahSymone Britt of Hopkins all had top three finishes at the state Class AA gymnastics meet Saturday.
Thompson, who qualified for state for the fifth time, finished her high school career with a third-place finish in the floor exercise, scoring a 9.500. Thompson placed 10th in the all-around (36.425).
Woods, a sophomore at Park Center, finished fourth in the all-around (37.400). Her best event was the balance beam where she finished third with a mark of 9.400.
Britt landed with a score of 9.65 on the vault, good for second place in Class AA.
The Hopkins freshman finished 14th in the all-around (36.1625) while her teammate Annabelle Speers finished seventh in both the all-around (37.025) and the uneven bars (9.375)
