Kickers FC Edges Park Valley United at USA Cup
The Kickers FC soccer team edged Park Valley United 4-3 in a shootout Friday morning in the quarterfinal round the Boys’ 15 and under Silver Division of USA Cup.
The Kickers, from the Brooklyn Park/Osseo area, got goals from Gilberto De Leon, Elijah Hoff and Connor Draves in regulation and overtime.
Goal scorers for Park Valley United, of Golden Valley/St. Louis Park were Dane Yeager and Charlie Diaz who scored twice.
In the seventh round of the shootout Kickers’ goalie Evan Martin, who had just made a big save, took his turn as a shooter and scored the match-winning goal.
The Kickers advanced to the semifinals of their age division with the win.
USA Cup, the nation’s largest youth soccer tournament, wraps up Saturday at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
