Jake Perry’s Three Homeruns Carry Hopkins Legion Baseball Past Grand Rapids
Standout third baseman Jake Perry homered in each of his first three at-bats as the Hopkins American Legion baseball team beat Grand Rapids 11-2 at the state American Legion tournament.
The game was a quarterfinal contest in the championship bracket of the tournament.
After Grand Rapids scored a run in the top of the first, Perry answered with a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame.
Perry hit another two-run blast as part of a four-run third inning for the Flyers.
He added a three-run shot in the fourth as Hopkins pulled away for the win.
Pitcher Ryan McGie recovered from a rocky first inning to shut Grand Rapids down, tossing a complete game.
