Hopkins Tops Armstrong in Legion Baseball Sub-State Playoffs
The Hopkins American Legion baseball team defeated Armstrong 8-2 in the first round of the Sub-State 4 tournament Tuesday night.
The Flyers scored three runs in the first inning with Jack Mausser and Americo Sculati both delivering run-scoring hits.
Brock Zimmer’s two-run double in the second inning gave the Flyers a 5-0 lead on their way to the win
Both teams play again Wednesday in the double-elimination tournament.
All games are played at Veterans Field in Minnetonka.
The tournament continues through Saturday with the winner earning a spot in the Minnesota State Legion tournament.
