Hopkins Softball Crushes Rival Minnetonka
The Hopkins softball team broke open a close game with a six-run fifth inning on the way to a 13-0 win over Minnetonka in six innings.
An Addie Crowell solo homerun started the scoring in the third inning for Hopkins.
The Royals scored another run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
The fireworks started right away in the fifth.
Signe Dohse slashed a hit down the leftfield line to score Anisa Dysart.
Taylor Katzenmeyer followed with a base hit up the middle to score Dohse.
Delaney Lindstrom drove in a run to make it 5-0.
Lola Jessen drove a two-run homerun to centerfield, and Ruth Freiberg followed with a solo blast.
The six-run inning gave Hopkins a comfortable 8-0 lead.
They scored five more in the sixth, capped by Lauren Granger’s grand slam.
Hopkins improved to 4-3 with the win.
They host St. Michael-Albertville Thursday.
