Hopkins’ Liv McGill Commits to Florida
Hopkins High School junior Liv McGill has announced her commitment to play college basketball for the University of Florida.
McGill is ranked 14th nationally and second in Minnesota from the Class of 2024 by ESPN’s HoopGurlz rankings.
The guard averaged 14 points per game this season for the 28-3 Royals, who finished as state runner-up in Class 4A to St. Michael-Albertville. The Royals won state in 2022. She also led Hopkins in both assists and steals.
The only Minnesota junior ranked higher than McGill is Benilde-St. Margaret’s guard Olivia Olson, who committed to Michigan last fall.
At Florida McGill will play for coach Kelly Rae Finley.
Finley is a Minnesota native who won a state Class 2A championship as a player at Breck in 2004. Finley then played college basketball at Northwestern University and then Colorado State.
