Hopkins Legion Baseball Qualifies for First-Ever Trip to Regional
The Hopkins American Legion baseball team is on its way to Sioux Falls, South Dakota having qualified for the program’s first-ever regional tournament.
Though disappointed in their state championship game loss to Osseo (also a regional qualifier), the Flyers’ second place finish at state earned them a berth in the Central Plains Regional tournament.
The eight-team tourney, featuring teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota, begins Wednesday morning at Sioux Falls Stadium.
Hopkins plays Fargo (ND) in their first round game, scheduled for 12:30 pm Wednesday.
The winner of the Central Plains tournament qualifies for the National American Legion Baseball Tournament, August 12-17 in Shelby, North Carolina.
