Hopkins Legion Baseball Holds off Willmar for Second Win at State Tournament
The Hopkins Flyers American Legion baseball team made it 2-for-2 at the state tournament, holding off Willmar 6-5.
It was the second win of the opening day of the state Division I tournament for the Flyers.
Hopkins put two runs on the board in the first inning, and built their lead to 6-1 through six innings.
Things got interesting as Willmar rallied in the seventh but pitcher Aaron Aune worked out of a jam to secure the win.
That victory assured Hopkins a spot in the championship bracket on the weekend.
The Flyers face Minneapolis Gopher Post in their final pool play game Friday.
