Hopkins Legion Baseball Beats La Crosse to Stay Alive in Regional
The Hopkins Post 320 American Legion baseball team got its offense going to beat La Crosse, Wisconsin 10-2 at the Central Plains Regional tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Flyers had managed just four hits in a 1-0 loss to Fargo, North Dakota in their tournament opener.
Against La Crosse, Hopkins fell behind 2-0 after two innings before coming alive with the bats.
They evened the score with a pair of runs in the top of the third, with Brock Zimmer’s triple highlighting the inning.
Hopkins scored four times in the fourth, with Gabe Olson’s two-run homerun giving them the lead for good.
The Flyers added four more in the sixth to put it out of reach.
They will face West Fargo, North Dakota Friday afternoon.
