Hopkins Gymnastics Places 6th at State Meet
The Hopkins gymnastics team placed sixth at Friday’s state Class AA meet, scoring 142.325 points.
The Royals, champions of Section 6AA, were making their first state tournament appearance since 2008.
Hopkins scored 36.900 on the vault, 34.075 on the uneven bars, 35.525 on the balance beam, and 35.825 on the floor exercise.
New Prague won the AA team title with 146.400 points, edging St. Cloud (146.275).
The Class AA individual meet, featuring local gymnasts from Hopkins, Wayzata, Maple Grove and Park Center, begins Saturday at 11 a.m. at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.
