Hopkins Girls Basketball Wins 8th Straight Section Title
The Hopkins girls basketball team pulled away from Wayzata in the second half to claim their eighth consecutive section title with an 84-66 win the Section 6AAAA championship game.
Liv McGill scored 21 points, Nu Nu Agara 20, Maya Nnaji 17, and Taylor Woodson 15 for the Royals.
Mara Braun led the Trojans in scoring with 19 points while Abby Krzewinski added 14, Shannon Fornshell 12 and Brynn Senden 10 as Wayzata lost for the fourth straight year to Hopkins in the section final.
The Trojans took the lead briefly in the first half before Hopkins closed the half strong to lead by six. The Royals started the second half strong and the Trojans never got closer than seven points the rest of the game.

Wayzata finishes the season with an 18-9 record.
Hopkins (23-1) is expected to be the top seed for the state Class 4A tournament which starts Wednesday at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
