Hopkins Girls Basketball Wins 14th Straight Game
The Hopkins girls’ basketball team rolled to its 14th straight win of the season, beating Minnetonka 86-60.
The Royals (14-0, 4-0 Lake Conference) jumped to a 54-33 lead at halftime and rolled to the victory over the rival Skippers.
Five Hopkins players scored at least 11 points in the game led by Macaya Copeland’s 16.
The game marked the first game at Hopkins for new Minnetonka head coach Brian Cosgriff who coached Hopkins from 1999-2020. Minnetonka drops to 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the Lake.
Hopkins, the number one team in Class 4A and the defending state champions, faces a tough week ahead with games against Lakeville North (Tuesday), St. Michael-Albertville (Friday) and Providence Academy (Saturday). STMA and Lakeville North are both ranked in the top 10 in Class 4A. Providence Academy is the top-ranked team in Class 2A.
