Hopkins Girls Basketball Team Beats Wayzata for Section Title
The Hopkins girls basketball team beat Wayzata 86-76 to win the Section 6AAAA title.
The teams met in the section final for the fourth time in five seasons.
Second seed Wayzata came out strong and took a nine-point lead.
Hopkins battled back and took a 41-34 lead into halftime.
Wayzata played well and kept it close throughout, but could never catch the Royals.
Hopkins won its 60th straight game. They will look to defend their class AAAA title next week.
Paige Bueckers scored 33 points to lead Hopkins.
Mara Braun and Annika Stewart each scored 27 for the Trojans.
