Hopkins Girls Basketball Routs Eastview, Advances to Class AAAA State Championship
The Hopkins girls basketball team advanced to their fourth straight class AAAA state championship with a 68-48 win over Eastview in the state semifinal round.
The Royals scored first and never gave up the lead at any point in the game. Hopkins’ pressure defense forced 17 turnovers from the Lightning and the Royals scored 16 points off turnovers.
Erma Walker scored a team-high 18 points. London Harris added 15 and shot 6-of-9 from the field. Jaliyah Diggs dished out 12 assists and recorded four steals.
The Royals face Maple Grove in the title game on Saturday night at Williams Arena.
It’s the 10th time in the last 11 seasons that Hopkins has advanced to the championship game.
