Hopkins Girls Basketball Nets Big Second Half to Score Win
The Hopkins girls basketball team broke open a close game at halftime, outscoring Duluth Marshall 31-4 in the first seven minutes of the second half on the way to an 89-53 win.
The Hilltoppers’ Chloe Johnson kept her team close in the first half when she scored most of her game-high 28 points as Marshall trailed Hopkins by just two at halftime, 40-38.
Jaliyah Diggs, on the bench for much of the first half with foul trouble, helped spark the Royals in the second half. Diggs led Hopkins with 24 points and five rebounds but the junior guard had plenty of help too.
Lanaia Durant scored 23 points while Erma Walker netted 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds and Mari Davis contributed seven points and 12 rebounds.
Hopkins (7-1) is the top-ranked team in Class AAAA. Duluth Marshall (3-2) is ranked third in Class AA.
