Hopkins Girls Basketball Defeats Providence Academy At Granite City Classic
The Hopkins girls basketball team earned a big win over Providence Academy 80-73 at the Breakdown Granite City Classic tournament in St. Joseph on Friday.
The Royals used their pesky defense to get out to a nine-point lead at halftime. They extended the lead to 20 midway through the second half, but behind Maddyn Greenway’s 32 points the Lions came all the way back to tie the game at 67 with four minutes to play.
Hopkins’ lone senior– Liv McGill– took over from there, scoring a string of transition layups on her way to a game-high 36 points.
Tatum Woodson added 10 points for the Royals while Ari Peterson also chipped in 10 for the Lions.
Hopkins went 2-0 at the Granite City Classic by beating Minot,ND on Saturday, 97-77.
Providence Academy got a split over the weekend with a 89-54 win over Duluth Marshall on Saturday.
