Hopkins Girls Basketball Beats Wayzata 71-54
The Hopkins girls basketball team won its 70th straight game, defeating Wayzata 71-54.
The state record for consecutive wins is 78, held by Fosston.
The Royals lead 46-25 at halftime before Wayzata scored the first ten points of the second half. But the Trojans never got closer than 11 points the rest of the game.
Amaya Battle scored 19 points, Taylor Woodson 17 and Maya Nnaji 16 to pace the Royals.
Mara Braun scored 19 points to lead Wayzata in scoring.
Hopkins (8-0) has won eight straight games against the 10th-ranked Trojans (5-4).
Hopkins plays at Minnetonka Thursday, a team the Royals beat by just one point on January 26th.
